Sherwood Close
The regeneration of Sherwood Close sees Ealing Council and Clarion Housing Group work together to deliver improved homes for current and future residents, along with new landscaping.
Partnership working
The original Sherwood Close estate, Ealing (also known as Dean Gardens) was built in the 1970s. Over the years, it gradually slipped into disrepair and developed a poor reputation for drug dealing and anti-social behaviour. The London Borough of Ealing invited Clarion to form a partnership to regenerate Sherwood Close in three phases.
Ambitious regeneration scheme
The regeneration of Sherwood Close is well underway. The first 71 homes were completed in 2019 and all are now occupied by former residents of the estate. Phase 2 was completed in March 2023, offering a further 106 new homes. These are a mix of social rent, returning leaseholders and shared ownership, as well as a new community facility. The high quality homes represent a marked improvement over the failing homes they replaced. The completion of phase 2 has allowed for the construction of a new community centre and an attractive courtyard green space overlooked by the surrounding new homes. This project also includes a £1 million community fund, administered by Clarion Futures in support of local community and voluntary sector groups. The final phase is due to begin on site in 2024.
