Blacksmiths Lane

Blacksmiths Lane is a 1960s estate comprising 80 flats, distributed across three blocks in St. Mary’s Cray. Blacksmiths estate transferred from the London Borough of Bromley to what is now Clarion in 1992.

After considering the views of our residents and the local community, and consulting with surveyors and architects, we decided the best option is to regenerate Blacksmiths. We will replace the existing 80 properties with approximately 125 new modern homes.

Why we are doing this

• To increase the number of affordable homes in the area

• Provide homes that are more energy efficient resulting in lower energy bills for our residents

• Improve the housing mix on Blacksmiths by providing a variety of home sizes

• Create new flat layouts that are easier for people with mobility problems to move around in

• Provide an opportunity for us to increase the quality of on-site external amenity green areas

Our plans for the future

It is important to note, there will be no change to the estate in the short term. This is only the beginning of what will be a complicated process of buying back leasehold properties, designing the new estate and securing planning permission.

We will ensure our residents are fully involved in the key decisions and plans that affect you and your neighbours.
