Partnership with Eurocell
Clarion’s regeneration projects involve the replacement of thousands of UPVC windows with new, efficient composite windows. UPVC windows are notoriously difficult to recycle, containing a number of components and materials that require a specialist system to reclaim. Traditionally, those old windows are at best partially recycled but Clarion wanted to do better.
We actively sought out a partner who would make fuller use of all the components in an old UPVC window, reaching agreement with Eurocell. We are currently working with Eurocell on a number of our regeneration projects to upcycle UPVC windows pre-demolition. This includes our large Merton regeneration. We are planning to expand the partnership into Bromley, saving tonnes of plastic from ending up in landfill.
Eurocell Recycle follows a six-step closed-loop recycling system:
• Clarion removes the end-of-life windows
• Eurocell collects the old, unwanted windows
• PVC-U is shredded, granulated and micronized
• New PVC-U profiles are manufactured
• New windows are fabricated
• New windows are installed
