Circular Economy in Merton

We have recently adopted a Circular Economy Strategy in Merton, aiming to reduce waste and improve circularity at Eastfields, High Path and Ravensbury. This involves complex waste management, recycling and upcycling where possible, as well as careful design. We plan to build in layers, incorporating replaceable components into the fabric of our new buildings, so that the lifespan of the entire building will be extended as long as possible. This means we are developing the new homes in the most sustainable way, working with the existing community to create a long-lasting, successful and happy new neighbourhood.

A diagram showing 3 bins. The first has an arrow straight down into it, representing the ‘linear economy’. The second has an arrow which loops around a few times then goes into the bin, representing the ‘recycling economy’. The third has an arrow which goes round lots of times in a circle, never reaching the bin, to represent the ‘circular economy’.
