Play Strategy

Clarion recognises the importance of play for children’s development and wellbeing. There are many different types of play – play can be physical, social or include elements of fantasy. By creating a play strategy, Clarion aims to promote its value for our residents and our diverse communities.

We do this by working with partners to promote play streets, investing in infrastructure and supporting research, among other things. We also aim to promote play in nature where possible, encouraging the retention of green spaces for neighbourhoods, and designing green streetscapes in new developments.

Involving local residents in decision making around playscapes is important. Our Housing teams are careful to differentiate between ASB and play, and we have begun to remove ‘no ball games’ signage on our estates.
